The bold plans to incorporate a National Day of Awareness Against Texting & Driving campaign with a star-studded concert, internationally streamed event, and a national fundraiser for education was faced with the reality of postponement.

The decision to reschedule the concert was made as the demand and requests from schools across the nation, during the final week, who desired to participate in the fundraising and streaming event would not have enough time to promote within their networks by the original concert date, April 28, 2012. More time was required to ensure all schools had access to participate as the ultimate aim of the concert was to have as many schools included to increase awareness.

A new date will be set in the fall of 2012, event producers, Global Maximus Production (GMP) will continue to work with its partners and supporters to deliver a truly incredible concert experience while also contributing to a socially relevant cause, Dont Text and Drive Safety Awareness.

We had a late hour landslide of support, stated Randall James, Chairman of GMP. Sponsors, schools, fundraisers, celebrities, and the media were all on board to endorse and support the responsible texting message. Unfortunately, the impending concert date precluded many from being able to lend their full backing and adopt the program. Due to this, we felt it was most important to the awareness campaign we support to postpone the concert until a later date, when all can fully participate.

Our goal has never changed, said Mr. James, the message of promoting responsible texting through a peer-to-peer campaign will save lives and our outreach over the past few months has only proven this fact. As parents ourselves, we feel it is a responsibility to promote a positive message to those we love and protect. We heard time and again that this was exactly the message that communities need right now and it is in the best interest of the cause to involve as many as students, parents, and community leaders as possible. We want them to be part of this cause and they wanted more time to be involved.
